Joost Nieuwenburg is an artist and curator based in The Hague, The Netherlands. He has graduated in Sonology at the Royal Conservatory, and in Fine Art and Music at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, The Hague. Music, artist led activities, food and history are the fuel for his practice. He has been active in The Hague running his own interdisciplinary performance spaces for the last 10 years and has lots of interesting things to speak about from that field. So, one focus of this Surfing with... session will be to introduce the audience to artist led activities in The Netherlands as well as to other interesting art venues, initiatives and festivals around performance art and music.
Art Claims Impulse invites exciting people to share with an audience websites that they find particularly interesting or inspiring. The idea is to surf together, be introduced to stimulating ideas, and enjoy a very private trip on the net. The presentations do carry an art element in them, but presenters are encouraged to go beyond this area and introduce new spin-offs or ideas that could potentially inspire artistic work and stimulate debate. The audience receives the URLs of the presented websites.
