“Mij (The Fog)” is a mobile defense system against Semi Active Laser (SAL) missiles, such as the Turkish MAM‑C, developed for use on moving vehicles in the context of the Rojava Revolution. Drawing on the Sumerian myth of Anzû and Ninurta, the project links contemporary Bayraktar drone warfare to a long history of struggles over destiny and control, and proposes fog as a myth‑technological countermeasure. A newly designed, 3D‑printed votive figure of Ninurta is equipped with a detection system based on open‑source defense research: its eyes sense infrared laser signals from incoming missiles, while an internal device releases fog through its mouth to disrupt their targeting systems. A demonstration video mixes official missile promotion footage, documentation of the construction and testing process, and an original Kurdish song retelling the Anzû myth, situating the work within the broader activities of the Rojava Center for Democratic Technologies, which explores postcolonial, community‑based technological cultures.
