Original Simulation - Alice in Wonderland, Maria Kling
Media art project that uses principles of quantum teleportation to transfer an artwork onto its own forgery. The work explores how originality shifts when images move between physical and digital forms. Fine art prints (on aluminium) are also available as part of the project.
Description
Original Simulation - Alice in Wonderland (by Maria Kling with Ker Siang Yeo, Sam Pallister & Henry Semenenko) quantum teleported: Alice in Wonderland (by John Tenniel & Disney)
Today Disney is one of the largest copyright holders. Yet, a large percentage of those copyrighted Disney creations are based on pre-existing stories, characters and folktales. (It is also convention in Quantum physics to speak of Alice and Bob as the characters for A and B.) Here the data of the “original” Alice in Wonderland illustration was quantum teleported onto the Disney “original”. Different degrees of correction in the algorithm and degrading entanglement.
